Throughout the past few decades, the injectable neuromodulator, Botox has continuously been at the forefront of the aesthetic enhancement industry – as the most popular injectable treatment for over 20 years. While much of this has been due to the success of the marketing team behind the product, Botox has provided some of the best, most unparalleled results around. Botox utilizes the botulinum toxin-A as the active ingredient, in order to cause temporary paralysis to the muscles within the face that cause wrinkles and expressions lines as a result of their movements. At Queens medical spa, Aesthetic Solutions, clients have used Botox will amazing results for some time now, but in the last few years, Botox has had to share the spotlight with 2 new additions to the neuromodulator class of injectable treatments. Xeomin and Dysport injections are the two newest alternatives to Botox, and they offer many of the same benefits and without some of the side effects! At Aesthetic Solutions, the top Queens medical spa, Xeomin injections have become one of the most widely requested Botox alternative treatments. Like Botox, both use a form of the botulinum toxin, but unlike Botox or Dysport, Xeomin injections do not contain any additives – the main reason they are known as the “naked” toxin. This is a tremendous improvement over Botox and Dysport injections as this can greatly reduce the risk of adverse, possibly allergic, reactions. While individuals rarely have allergic reactions to Botox or Dysport injections, because the body does not have to develop antibodies to the additives present within Xeomin injections. Whereas with Dysport and traditional Botox, the body will create special antibodies to guard against the foreign compounds that are mixed in with the solution.
Another lesser known benefit of Xeomin injections is that they do not need to be refrigerated. This is a huge boost in terms of being able continuously use the same vial, as well as for transport, to and from a number of different locations. While this might seem to be subtle and small, saving in refrigeration allows for much more versatile use. Xeomin is primarily FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines, which occur between the eyes – often known as “11’s”. And Xeomin injections work on the same exact concept as Botox and Dysport, meaning they temporarily paralyze the muscles beneath certain areas of the face, in which wrinkles might be present.
While Xeomin shines in certain aspects (in comparison to Botox), as does Dysport in many respects. One of the biggest advantages to choosing Dysport injections over Botox, depending on the specific case, Dysport injections are known to provide patients with somewhat longer-lasting results. While it differs, depending on the area the injection was administered, in some areas Dysport results have been known to last upwards of a year to 14 or even 15 months! Compare that too traditional Botox treatments in similar regions, where the results may only last 3-5 months at a time (in some cases longer) – in most of these cases the results will also be seen earlier in Dysport as well. Another major advantage of Dysport is its effectiveness on the treatment of Crow’s feet – or the wrinkles around the eyes, when an individual smiles or squints too hard. Dysport has been known to be almost 5x more effective at the treatment of crow’s feet than traditional Botox. For anyone thinking of giving any of these 3 neuromodulator injections a try, they will all work great for you and your needs – depending on what the specifics of those needs entail.
