Creases show up on your face with every facial movement whether you are smiling, frowning or squinting. Dynamic creases disappear when your muscles relax, but at some point, these dynamic lines become static and frown lines or crow’s feet appear. Fortunately, you have options, such as Dysport®, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
What is Dysport®?
Dysport® is an injectable formula derived from Botulinum toxin A. It is a neuromodulator approved for the treatment of wrinkles and other medical uses by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dysport® is in the same class of pharmaceuticals as Botox although there may be variations in the results.
How Dysport® Works?
Lines form on your face as a natural part of the aging process. As the skin becomes less elastic, these lines deepen and may become permanent if you do nothing about them. Using a fine needle, your practitioner will inject Dysport® into the underlying tissues of the target area, usually the glabullar muscles. These are the muscles that form the frown lines on your forehead. Dysport® blocks the signals from nerve to muscles, immobilizing the target muscle group temporarily so that visible lines and wrinkles appear to smooth over.
What to Expect from Dysport® Treatments?
A Dysport® treatment is minimally invasive, and the procedure should be painless. However, an anesthetic cream may be applied to the treatment site at your request to numb the site prior to injection.
A session may last up to 15 minutes. Dysport® diffuses further than Botox: one to three centimeters compared to only one centimeter for Botox. This means that you can expect fewer injections with Dysport® compared to Botox treatments.
The results may begin to show within 24 hours with full results visible in about one week. Dysport® contains less protein and is absorbed more gradually than Botox. The wrinkle-smoothing effects may last from three to six months according to previous clinical trials. With repeat treatments, wrinkles appear to be less severe as muscles are being trained to relax.
Side effects include stinging at the injection site and minor headaches. Your practitioner will discuss post-treatment measures to minimize side effects. When Dysport® is given in approved doses for FDA-approved procedures such as wrinkle treatments, adverse effects are rare.
How much will Dysport® Treatments Cost?
The cost of Dysport® treatments will vary depending on the condition of your facial skin and muscles. Treatment plans are customized for each patient, and costs are prepared based on the plan. We offer discount programs and a VIP package as well.
