Restylane® Dermal Filler
Fresh, supple skin and full facial contours are hallmarks of youth, but over time, skin becomes less elastic and some of the subcutaneous tissue that supports it is lost. Fine lines and wrinkles gradually develop, but you do not have to simply accept them. Restylane® and other dermal fillers offer an effective way to reduce the common signs of aging.
What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a clear gel formation of hyaluronic acid, a protective substance that is naturally found in the human body. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, this dermal filler is used for temporarily smoothing facial wrinkles and folds and adding volume to the lips. Restylane® is similar in composition to other hyaluronic acid fillers, including Perlane and Juvederm, but duration of results may vary.
How Does Restylane® Work?
As people age, facial volume is lost, leaving skin unsupported and more prone to displaying fine lines, wrinkles and creases. A transparent gel, Restylane® is injected into the desired areas of the face with a fine needle. It immediately adds volume, which smooths away wrinkles and brings a youthful fullness to the facial contours. Restylane® can also be injected into the lips to add fullness.
What to Expect from Restylane® Treatments?
A minimally invasive procedure, a Restylane® treatment offers rapid results with little to no downtime. The duration of the procedure depends on the number of lines being treated, but most sessions last less than an hour. After identifying and marking the desired injection sites, your practitioner will cleanse the areas. Each injection is completed in a few seconds. Most patients report very little discomfort from the injections, but a topical anesthetic can be used to numb the treatment sites. Results can be seen immediately, and they will last for months. While the duration varies slightly depending on the individual and the area treated, the results of injections into the facial skin generally last six to twelve months; treatments administered to the lips normally produce results that last for up to twelve months. Side effects from this procedure may include swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness, but they are normally minor. Your practitioner will provide instructions for your post-treatment care that can help minimize them. Because Restylane® acts like the body’s naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, adverse effects are unusual, and the product simply breaks down over time.
How Much Do Restylane® Treatments Cost?
Treatment plans are customized to address the unique condition of each patient’s facial skin and muscles, so the costs involved in Restylane® treatment varies. Discount programs and VIP packages may also be available.
