What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is one of the most powerful methods of manual exfoliation available, allowing patients to rejuvenate their skin on both the face and body. Many patients begin to see positive results after only one session!
Designed to improve the overall appearance and quality of the skin, microdermabrasion exfoliates the outer layer of the skin, in order to treat a variety of skin conditions – showing notable improvements to rough textured skin, discolorations from over-exposure to the sun, stretch marks, acne, and other blemishes.
How Microdermabrasion Works?
The system exfoliates dead cells from the skins surface, cleaning the pores from the inside out and stimulating blood circulation and collagen production. The increased blood circulation works to oxygenate the skin cells, and tissue(s) in and around the treatment area. Leaving patients with a firm, fresh, and far more even complexion – that continually improves over time.
Microdermabrasion works using fine sand or stone microparticles, or in some cases a diamond tipped wand, to remove the top layer of the skin and stimulate new fresh skin growth. Using a handheld device, tiny crystals are streamed across the skin, while a simultaneous vacuum suctions off the dead or loosened skin cells away from the skin’s surface.
Side Effects & Downtime
One of the main benefits of Microdermabrasion is that there are little to no side effects. Occasionally, some patients may experience minor redness, and possible swelling along the skin, however this will generally dissipate within a few hours.
There is also no associated downtime, meaning patients can resume their daily activities immediately following a session.
