Radiesse® Aging skin loses its youthful texture and appearance as the production of elastin and collagen diminishes. Dynamic lines become static wrinkles, and the face may also lose some of its structure as tissues lose their volume. The radical solution to this problem is a fairly new cosmetic treatment called Radiesse®.
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a dermal filler approved for the treatment of wrinkles, lines and skin folds on the face. This FDA-approved product contains particles of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in a gel solution. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, and it has been used as an ingredient in various medical formulations for many years. This substance and the gel carrier combination that makes up Radiesse® are non-allergenic.
How does Radiesse® Work?
Radiesse® is injected into the tissues under the area targeted for treatment. Almost immediately, Radiesse® begins working immediately by plumping the tissues in the treated area to compensate for the loss of volume in the underlying fat layer. This resculpts the face, making it appear fuller as lines and wrinkles are smoothed over. As the body gradually absorbs the cosmetic filler, Radiesse® is also working on stimulating collagen production. Eventually, Radiesse® gel is completely absorbed, leaving the natural collagen only. The results, which last about a year, are more natural. Radiesse® is recommended for use on smile lines, marionnette lines, mouth corners, jowl area and chin wrinkles.
What to Expect from Radiesse® Treatment?
Radiesse® treatment takes about 30 minutes. It is a nonsurgical procedure that does not require anesthesia although some practitioners mix lidocaine to limit patient discomfort during the application of Radiesse®. Side effects are mild, including bruising, swelling, redness, itching and some pain on the injection site, tenderness and itching. Typically, side effects may last a few hours to a few days. Other side effects may occur, and your practitioner will make sure you are aware of them. The particles used in Radiesse® may be visible on CT-scans and X-rays. If you undergo any of these procedures post-treatment, inform the technician about your Radiesse® treatment.
How many Treatments Needed and Costs Involved?
Only your practitioner can tell you how much Radiesse® you will need. The usual pattern consists of a substantial dose at the first session, which would immediately enhance tissue volume and smooth out the texture of the skin. A touch-up treatment may be needed to achieve the desired effect. Later on, re-treatment with Radiesse® may be needed to preserve the youthful appearance of your face. Clearly, costs will depend on the treatment that you need. Cost packages are customized, but we offer discount plans to everyone. Signing up for the VIP Program will mean more discounts and benefits.
